9am Meet at the agreed meeting point (locations differ depending on the date booked). Your guide will check that everyone has the required equipment (lunch and water and appropriate clothing), and will hand out rock-climbing safety equipment to be carried to the cliff face.
The walk to the cliff face could be as short as 5 minutes (Camel’s Hump, Staughton Vale, You Yangs) or as long as 45 minutes (Werribee Gorge) – please see the “Location Information” document you will be emailed when your booking is confirmed. Either way – the walk is always very pretty so remember to enjoy the forest views!
Do take note that there are no facilities at the cliff, so the bush is your only option! Your guide will carry a small number of “wag bags” for any, uhm, “solids” that you need to carry out and dispose of properly, but it is best to complete this need before the trip starts!
Once there, your guide will set up ropes at the cliff face and instruct the group on the use of the belay devices, knots and give you some tips on technique for climbing. There is no right or wrong way to climb the face, it is entirely up to you to “find your climbing feet”. Remember to cheer on your fellow climbers – enthusiasm is part of what makes the sport so great!
Have fun for the next few hours under the watchful eye of your guide who will offer friendly chat, professional advice and excellent tips whenever you ask!
12pm OR 3pm – Pack-up. This is dependent on the group, it might take longer under certain circumstances. However, if you need to leave before that, you are more than welcome to!
